The first thing you must do, is a PuppetPrince account. Once you finish it, click in Characters - on that silver bar in the top. At the right corner of the page you have just opened, there's a Create a character bottom. Open it, name your character, set Werewolf: The Apocalypse as the genre and finally, click on Create.
Now you have a newborn Character sheet at your hands! Time to open a new tab in your browser, with a copy of Laws of the Wild: Revised. Your character will be structured by the rules in this book.
Now, following the information in the book build a base sheet:
Step 1: Set your Character Tribe, Auspice and Breed. It will define who your character is in Garou society. We recommend that beginners play with a Homid character.
Step 2: Select your character Archetypes; Nature and Demeanor. Nature is who he is. Demeanor is how he behaves. You can chose the same option for both and, you also can set archetypes that are not in the book, that you think would fit better. Your character may regain willpower in different situations, laid by it's nature and demeanor characteristics. Click here for a larger list of archetypes than the one available in the book.
Step 3: Rank. You can start as Cliath. But depending of your character concept, supportive background and approve from the STs you can claim to start as Fostern. In case you make a Kinfolk, please state it here.
Step 4: Set your starting Gnosis (by Breed), Rage (by Auspice) and Willpower (by Tribe). Kinfolks don't have Rage. Gnosis in Kinfolk is only possible with RP through a quest, then the merit can be purchased for double the points.
Initial Willpower:
Black Furies 3,
Bone Gnawers 4,
Children of Gaia 4,
Fianna 3,
Get of Fenris 3,
Glass Walkers 3
Red Talons 3,
Shadow Lords 3,
Silver Fangs 3,
Silent Striders 3,
Stargazers 4,
Uktena 3,
Wendigo 4.
Initial Rage:
Ahroun 5,
Galliard 4,
Philodox 3,
Theurge 2,
Ragabash 1.
Initial Gnosis:
Homid 1,
Metis 3,
Lupus 5.
Step 5: Now, time for character Attributes, defined by Traits. There's Physical, Mental and Social traits. Following your character personality, you will select a Primary, Secondary and Tertiary trait. If your character is a soldier or athlete, he would probably have Physical traits as primary. An intellectual or artist character, Mental traits. While manipulative or high society characters, would dispose of a Social traits majority.
Primary: 7
Secondary: 5
Tertiary: 3
If you want, you can select up to 5 negative traits for freebies.
Step 6: Select the character 5 Abilities.
Note:
- Disadvantages: Tribe and Breed often restrict some of the abilities. Please follow the information in the book while building your character.
Step 7: Spend 5 Background/Influence points.
Notes:
- You may chose only the Influence available in the book: Bureaucracy, Church, Finance, Health, High Society, Industry, Legal, Media, Occult, Police, Political, Street, Transportation, Underworld, and University. Influance above 3 needs the character to have lived or worked for a long time in the section of the influance. Background story and explanation needed.
- Need background to support
- No Fetishes, Totems are RARE. Please read House Rules for more information.
Step 8: Pick 3 starting gifts (Tribe, Auspice and Breed). In case of Kinfolk you gain 9XP points instead of gifts.
* Note that there is a cap for gifts, which means the starting ones and the pernament renown of you char. For more information please see: thewanderlust-wta.freeforums.net/thread/18/rank-caps
Step 9: Assign your initial Renown. Not for Kinfolk.
Cliath:
Ragabash - any 3;
Theuge – wisdow 3;
Philodox – honour 3;
Galliard – Glory 2, wisdow 1;
Ahroun – Glory 2, Honour 1.
Fostern:
Ragabash - any 7;
Theuge – Glory 1, Wisdow 5;
Philodox – Glory – 1, honour 4, Wisdow 1;
Galliard – Glory 4, wisdow 2;
Ahroun – Glory 4, Honour 1, Wisdow 1
Step 10: Chose your character Flaws and Merits.
You can find them in Laws of the Wild: Revised page 91. We have also our list of Approved Merits and Flaws here.
Picking a flaw, you gain freebie points defined by it's cost. Picking a Merit, you have to spend it's cost using your freebies. The Merits are capped at 10. Flaws may be taken up to 10 points but after that they give no extra XP. Make your character interesting! Be warned tho... They are expected to be roleplayed and they will be used. ('Enemy' will appear, 'Charach' will be judged, 'Dark Fate' will be dark.)
Note:
- Some of the Merits or Flaws must be approved by the ST and have supporting background.
- Chose wisely.. again.. the Flaws will be used in the game.. against you most of the time.
Step 11: Define your Tribal Advantage and Weakness. (You can make a note in Puppetprince text box).
Step 12: Spend your 5 Freebies plus your points from flaws and negative traits.
Step 13: Write a resume of your character background in the journal section of the character sheet in the PuppetPrince. This is the life your character had before joining our chronicle. It is important as it shows the personality of your char. Remember, as in the case of the Flaws, your background can and will be used by the ST for a personal and maybe even public plot.
Step 14: Join our Chronicle : Wanderlust - W:tA and submit your character.
Step 15: Ask an ST for an XP roll in the dice room. You roll 2d50 and take the highest rolls. We will take pity on people who roll extremely crappy. No one wants 1 XP character. XP from the roll will be added on your sheet, so you can spend them and beef up your character.
Now you only have to wait character approval! If this guide is not clear enough, and you are still confused about how creating your sheet, be sure to ask. We don't bite.
