Play me
Now me
The door of the cabin slowly creaks as it is opened,Samuel steps outside of the dark interior onto his porch. As the moonlight reveals him from the darkness his even, composed breathing fogs as it rises up into air. He studies his surroundings and the silence that has taken hold over the sleeping sept as he leans down leaving a bundle of sheets at his porch to be washed tomorrow, sleepy eyed and exhausted he turns to go back inside without a thought or care in the world. Like the sound of glass shattering against the floor he suddenly wakes, that horrible feeling washing over him and into his skin as tension rose rapidly like a cup filled with water- was everything in control, were all tracks covered,is there anything overlooked,is it safe...or dangerous. His gaze turns back to the bed sheets he placed away and his body soon follows in a hurried pace,he lowers to a knee and begins unwrapping the bundle. Fast, panicked ,almost shaky he finds the bloodstains in several areas and reaches to his pocket smoothly spinning one of his knives out of its hiding place. He tears and cuts out small circles of evidence from the rest of the cloth and exhales deeply as he pockets them. Standing he glares towards the camp searching for any witnesses before he returns inside with a fast paced and agile bounce to his step as if he never even used a cane to begin with. The door clicks as it is slammed shut, quickly followed by the lock before a low thud. He fell back against the door as he locked it,feeling sweat trail down his brow and his heartbeat racing,it was not safe-far from it,he dragged his hands down his face slowly, terrified. Samuel looked up to the blackened ceiling and corners feeling the weight of hundreds of eyes staring at him ,piercing through his flesh like the very daggers he loved, from the dark formed streams and tentacles reaching out to wrap around him drawing ever closer as the walls seemed to close in around him . The pressure amounted to sky heights and just as it reached the point where he could swear his heart would burst Sam breathes in sharply and holds his breath for a moment, freezing time and space around him, focus, concentrate. He knew it was time for his ritual. The strange fang walked through his dark room knowing exactly how it was composed and where all the furniture was almost like he practiced it-just in case, and turns the light on.
He reaches his backpack and rummages through it drawing a pack, two, three. He sits down at the most open area of the room and opens each deck of cards leaving them by his side, each deck more worn out than the last. With an exhale he begins drawing the cards, two by two, placing them on the flat surface of the ground.Samuel felt a calming and relaxing wave soothing him as his mind kicks up gear, waking, controlling. Column by column the towers began rising ,houses of cards eating away the emptiness of the room until they were high enough to nearly conceal him under their structures. They were wide and had multiple steps but none had a sharp top to indicate they were finished. His hands and fingers surgically precise and breathing softly now,he could slow down. This was the world, existing and living-and he was in its center, its architect and observer. Samuel focused deeply, each of the cards representing moments, dialogues, actions. Each of the columns representing a series of those events into pillars that made way for further growth. Each tower a different person,a different entity and stream of events. Samuel scratched at his chin thoughtfully ,finally he could see clearly. As if falling to a trance he felt himself leaving his body, ascending from his flawed point of view blocked by the many structures, now he was above no longer part of the world-his falcon blessed sight could capture all of it one by one. Noting where a card was out of line and balance, relying on the rest of the column to keep itself standing his mind relays those moments to him in the rhythm of a pendulum,or raindrops and series of images and sounds streamed before his eyes like a fast compilation -quickly skipping the correct scenes in search for the ones where he slipped up,overshared or allowed himself to be seen through ,there were frighteningly many of them. He studied how each mistake came to be,where it was his own doing, where it was accidental, where it could have simply been fate before concluding how he tied the loose end in each, putting them to rest.
"We were speaking either if its dishonorable or not, for a garou to use silver on another garou"
"Welcome Samuel, though I'm curious.. how come as a fostern you only got one name?"
"Still got quite a few folks you ain't met yet Samuel. They come and go. -They..can do that? "
"YOU.."
"I used to argue about money and "riches" with my brother. He would be with you guys on this one."
"What sort of ambitions are you thinking of that qualify as big and important things? I'm just... curious -Lets just say i have a lot to prove to some eyes. "
"i have killed for far less.....you know what you -can- trust? i don't need any help to slit your throat"
"YOU THINK YOU CAN BETRAY -ME- FOR A FILTHY BONEGNAWER!?"
Samuel winced,so many mistakes, each a threat to the future he is after, each a step towards crushing his perfect world he is building. Especially the last one, such behavior is unacceptable ,thankfully he resolved those outbreaks and sated curiosities just enough. He focused further, blocking out the voice that haunts his subconscious, gnawing at his mind not letting him think
"You have never been to a restaurant? Please tell me you've had icecream. -its not that i didn't want to,if im around civilization im supposed to be doing things,so...no,never really needed to go to this... eye hop...thing..place"
"Sorry,i didn't mean to offend. I just find it ironic because i am also a man who can fit all his earthly belongings in a small bag -Well that is a bit odd
-i know, the stereotype would say otherwise but i am in fact a lowborn among my tribe, not a dollar nor a dime to my name let alone any to give you -Alright,you don't mind i asked her, right?"
"Just the Elders in other septs have held the opinion that use of SIlver against Garou who are not Spirals is dishonorable"
Samuel felt content, his recap nearly complete. He knew who to be careful of,knew exactly what he overlooked and how to react as to not be surprised by any of it...safe,he realized what was wrong now,he felt as one of them-accepting them as they have him, forgetting he was never meant to belong. Now he could proceed to the future...but then another moment started surfacing in his minds eye. He saw himself sitting at the table, with so many of them around him
"Then in that case, we should talk a bit
-With me Tyler yuff? What about? "
-With me Tyler yuff? What about? "
" A mutual acquaintance."
The Fang felt the panic as if it had happened for the first time, right at that moment. His worst nightmare knocking at his door ,he was cornered.Letting go of his cane and almost reaching for his knives
"What....who..? -Nothing bad,I assure you.Relax"
"What.acquaintance? -Kaylyn"
Samuel relaxed, too suddenly-even chuckling with relief.Thankfully no one had noticed, convinced and quite satisfied with witnessing drama over kinfolk matters ,he relaxed, lowering his guard fully. He then stood to go talk with Tyler, looking away to take his cane in hand he turns his head to look back again-suddenly frozen in shock and complete terror at who was standing in front of him
"Fuck you,Sammy." he blew the smoke in his face in a slow cone "You think you can stand there, all self righteous and order ME anything!? You are a fucking creep and i can see right through you. That fake smile, the way you always stay silent and watch everyone else...You don't even walk like a normal person, you ...glide like some reptile,a lizard" The person is bleeding heavily from his neck, his torso filled with holes as well.He pulls out and tosses a bloodied dagger at his feet "Dont even have the guts to finish it....YOU THINK YOU CAN BETRAY -ME- FOR A FILTHY BONEGNAWER?! One day,i'll hold both amulets, you don't deserve it.See you later,Sammy." The chilling grin he gives him, will haunt him for as long as he can remember it,the man steps back and crosses into the umbra, and all Samuel can do is drop to his knees horrified.
He opens his eyes to find himself in his cabin again, all the cards strung out on the floor in chaos. He feels he is gripping something, with all his strength, opening his palm to see
